What Causes Muscle Ache In The Right Arm, Shoulder And Neck?

For three weeks, I have had what feels like muscle pain in my right arm, right shoulder, neck, and side. The most pronounced pain is in my arm. There have been time, usually at night, when the pain is upwards of a 9 out of 10. Usually, throughout the day, it is more like a 6. When I use my computer mouse, or lift objects, it gets stronger. I am taking ibuprofen maximum recommended dose, daily (2 capsules, 200mg each, at 6am, 12pm, and 6pm). It seems to help. Your thoughts?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for the query. I understand your concern.
Your pain can be due to excessive strain to the hand ( weight lifting), Sprain of the muscles/ nerve pressure at cervical spine/ neck - due to cervical spine...for vertebrae & cervical rib
The rise of pain at night can be due to sleeping posture increasing the nerve pressure.
Through local examination by a doctor / X ray of cervical spine, if indicated- would throw light on the cause OR confirm site & cause of nerve pressure ... followed by specific management ( anti inflammatory pills/ muscle relaxant - oral & for local massage OR specific orthopedic treatment ( local steroid injection ,/ physiotherapy or surgery in few cases)
Thanks.
I find this answer helpful
