What Causes Muscle Atrophy, Weight Loss And Hair Fall After Chemo Therapy?

My husband had esophageal cancer he had radiation therapy chemo therapy and surgery to remove the cancer. It is one year tomorrow he had the surgery he now suffers from muscle atrophy, unexplained weight loss his hair and nails are not growing. He just had a peg tube put back in to get more nutrition, what type of doctor would follow this kind of treatment it just gets pushed around to different doctors. His last bx and pet scan came back clean the dr. said he is cancer free but he continues to loose weight.

Hello,

I think that the dry mouth and pain may be caused by candida infection. Using antibiotics during and after surgery may have caused you to have mouth pain and sensitivity to spices. Use anti-fungal gels and lozenges.

The main doctor is the oncologist who should take care of him. Probably a surgeon might be needed for controlling the peg device.
