What Causes Muscle Contractions On Left Side Of Head?

I have ongoing contraction in the left side of my head. If I blow my nose or cough it gets tighter. feels like some one has their hand on my head squeezing and releasing. It is driving me crazy. If I lay back with my head way back it goes away. Standing, sitting walking it is constant, I will have an eye twitch at time also.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is likely a muscle spasm of the muscles in this area, this can be due to abnormal nerve or muscle function.

The causes may vary but if it continues then you should see your doctor for an assessment.
Causes can include : (a) electrolyte disorders- abnormal levels of potassium , sodium or calcium
(B)abnormal levels of b12 or folate
(c)side effect of medication
(d)trauma to the area
(e)infection

If it continues you may need to see your doctor for assessment to determine the cause.

I hope this helps
