What Causes Muscle Cramps, Fatigue, Loss Of Appetite And Swelling In The Ankles?

Hi, having a few different symptoms that are new to me. First I should say I did fly a month ago on a weekend get a way. Came back with pretty bad respiratory symptoms, wheezing, cough. I began taking Advair, albuterol inhaler and nebs when needed. Z pac, and 2 prednisone tapers. It is much better but not completely gone. I am having severe muscle cramps in all parts of my body several times a day. For me what I would consider major fatigue. Loss of appetite but I have noticed small amt. of swelling in ankles. I have a previous past positive PPD, ( I am a respiratory therapist), and I have lupus that has been pretty much inactive. It has felt a bit like I could be depressed. Not sure if it is the symptoms or that I am. Never had a problem in the past with this.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I am glad to interact with an expert respiratory therapist. As per my clinical experience, the swelling in ankles with history of flying may be related as deep vein thrombosis likely. Though respiratory symptoms are resolved, severe fatigue indicate the presence of systemic reason as the root cause and must be evaluated with necessary lab tests (such as serum electrolytes, white cell counts, ESR and acute phase reactants) with or without Doppler lower limbs.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
