What Causes Muscle Cramps In Leg After Taking Cortisone Shot?

I had a cortisone shot in my knee and 5 days later had muscle cramps in my leg on the side. It was so bad I could not walk. The worst pain I have ever had in my life. The side of my leg feels like it is in a continuous spasm. It constantly feels like the spasm wants come back. Well today it came back but not in the same way it was the first time. What is wrong.

hi,i appreciate your concern.since you have not mentioned ur age,and reason for taking cortisone shot in knee.considering it i think you are in higher age range where degenerative knee disease occuring, and some doctors prefer to give steroid inj. for short term relief .at the same time it appears there is calcium metabolism disorder ,poor calcium intake ,etc.due to which muscle spasms are occuring.it is advisable to get urself checked for vit b12,vitD,ando other blood tests.after consulting ur ortho expert.neuro vitamines, calcium, warm fomentation may help u for the timebeing.thanks.i will be happy to answer future query.
