What Causes Muscle Cramps In The Left Calf?

Hi, I am a 50 year old female. I have been having problems with my left calf and foot. I have been getting very bad charlie horses in my calf during the day and even while I am sleeping, enough to wake me up at night. My big toe is turning a bluish black color and is very cold. I am also feeling a very weird pulsating beat in my leg also.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a simple musculoskeletal pain. As a first line management analgesics like aceclofenac or tramadol can be tried for pain relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and plan for a vascular Doppler to rule out possibilities like a peripheral vascular disease.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
