Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband is 36years old ,his total cholesterol is 232 and tg is 229 doctor prescribed tonact tg 10mg and he told not to discontinue the medicine take it as a part of life for lifelong.after taking medicine for 1month my husband has muscle pains just after taking this drug .what to do .please help
From your description, I concur that Tonact (Atorvastatin) has some side effects that include muscle pain and joint pains. I would suggest you to ask your doctor to change the drug as there are so many options available in the "statins" class of drug. Additionally, I would suggest your husband intake fish oil capsules as they have quite a good amount of HDL (good cholesterol) which will help to reduce bad cholesterol and triglycerides. Less oil and less fatty food.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
