General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

From your description, I concur that Tonact (Atorvastatin) has some side effects that include muscle pain and joint pains. I would suggest you to ask your doctor to change the drug as there are so many options available in the "statins" class of drug. Additionally, I would suggest your husband intake fish oil capsules as they have quite a good amount of HDL (good cholesterol) which will help to reduce bad cholesterol and triglycerides. Less oil and less fatty food.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ashish Ranjan, General & Family Physician
