What Causes Muscle Soreness, Fatigue And Excessive Sweating?

I have very sore muscles (especially in upper arms), fatigue, and sweating (the past week). I do not feel sick, otherwise. I have been taking statins (40 milligrams per day) for the past 3 years and have not had any ill affects. Just had a complete checkup one month ago and all blood work was good. I am thinking about going off the statins for a week or two to see if the soreness discontinues. If so, I will go back on and see if the soreness returns. What do you think?

Hello, Welcome to Health Care Magic

I can understand your concern. You have symptoms like soreness of muscles, chronic fatigue and persistent sweating. You are on statins since last 3 years. If we consider muscle soreness, aches, fatigue etc symptoms then such symptoms can occur due to statins also. Statins are known to cause myopathy like symptoms in patients and this has been supported by studies also. So in my opinion either reducing the dose or stoping the drug should improve the symptoms.

Such symptoms of persistent fatigue, muscle aches with sweating can also occur due to anxiety or somatisation disorder. Proper evaluation is needed for ascertaining the cause of symptoms. For muscles pain, fatigue, anxiety etc symptoms drugs like Pregabalin or Gabapentin etc can help. These drugs help to reduce the pain and will help in anxiety also. For muscle aches SNRI drugs as Venlafexine or Duloxetine etc can also help. You can visit a psychiatrist for evaluation and help.

Thanks, Hope this helps you, Take care
