What Causes Muscle Soreness?

I have sore and weak muscles. Have had for about 6 weeks. Mainly in upper legs and shoulders and arms. I have been to the PNG, VANUATU AND FIZI for two weeks about a week before. Also had a flu needle about 3 weeks before. I am on warfrin ( aortic valve replace,19 years ago) and blood pressure pills Crestor and Somac and micardis for closerol. I am a active 70 yo and most mornings until recently, rid a bicycle for about half an hour.. About 6 months ago I started getting a very itchy shin which is only relieved by taking Telfast twice daily. What is causing muscle soreness and the itchy skin.

Hi,

Crestor induced side effects. Based on the history you seem to have developed muscle soreness/weakness and itchy skin apparently caused by crestor. I advise you to stop taking crestor and consult your doctor for an effective alternate but a safer medication to lower your high blood cholesterol.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
