What Causes Muscle Spasms And Tendinitis After Taking Harvoni?

I finished a 12 week course of Harvoni in June. I am a long distance runner and noticed an onset of minor muscle spasms and some tendinitis while on it. In the three months since I stopped taking it, I have experienced increasing joint and muscle pain, especially in the low back and big toes. Does this eventually go away? My doctor says these are not side effects related to Harvoni, But I am in tune with my body and say that they are.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* There can be rare instances of issues with the tendons inflammation with Harvoni in selected cases.
* In my clinic, I appreciate the patient to undergo MRI tendon with or without a biopsy of the most affected tendon for best pathological evaluation and proceed further in this instance when adequate conservative therapy has failed. Would like to have followed up after the condition has been evaluated further.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
