General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
Such spasms could be due to over use and stress, calcium, vitamin D or B12 deficiency, nerve irritation supplying the part at spinal or pelvic region sciatica. You need consultation of a physician and thereafter an orthopedic surgeon (if referred to). Blood work and imaging investigation for confirmation of cause followed by specific management. For the time being, take rest. Over the counter pain medicines, muscle relaxer spray like Move spray over the counter.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
