General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your daughter, 27 is suffering from muscle stiffness in the legs. She has history of being diabetic and also hypertensive. Muscle stiffness is commonly caused due to dehydration, calcium - magnesium deficiency, injury from heat or cold , insect bite, etc. Usually muscle stiffness goes away on its own. She may find relief with regular exercise and stretching. Other medical factors that may cause muscle stiffness are Infectious mononucleosis (mono), Systemic lupus erythematosus, etc.

You are suggested to get her clinically examined by a GP, get all required blood tests, imaging tests if required done. Her treatment will depend on the ailment detected. In the meantime, she should keep herself adequately hydrated, take water and fluids. She can take calcium-magnesium supplements or food rich in it. She can get relieve by taking anti inflammatory medications, gentle massage or application of heating pads.

Stretch exercises are helpful. She should control her blood sugar level at all cost as an increase may trigger the other symptoms. Since she has high blood pressure, she should take her prescription medicines, avoid salty food. Help her stay away from stress and anxiety.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
