What Causes Muscle Twitches In Body Lasting For Few Seconds?

hi For some reason I have been getting muscle twitching in my body. Like sudden involuntary movement that lads just a few seconds or upto 30 secs and then go. Around arms, thighs, sometimes in buttocks, calfs, neck area. No specific pattern - just random. Nothing hurts as such but very irritating. I do suffer periodically from anxiety especially health anxiety. But these are very real things I feel in my body. There is no weakness in muscle or not that I have noticed. Vision, body temp is normal. Please could help me understand this random twitching.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

In your case, the twitching does not seem to be worrisome. These may be due to anxiety and stress, excessive use of caffeine, poor nutrition, less body exercise etc. As in your case these are sudden, brief, involuntary, variable in intensity and frequency as well as localized to one part of body or the whole body, these do not seem to be due to some serious cause. However, if the symptoms are frequent and persistent, If they disturb your daily activity like eating etc., if they disturb your sleep or you are having seizures, then you must see a doctor for proper diagnosis and management of your disease.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
