What Causes Muscular Pain, Tremors And Dry Skin During Hot Weather?

Hi, I am overheating very often and I am not able function on warm day. My worsened body coordination, pain, burning and spasms in my muscles, dry skin and unability to sweat, makes my existence unbearable not thinking about any activity that would make it worse. I avoid fatty and sugary foods and try to drink plenty of water with a bit of sea salt. Air-conditioning can quickly improve my condition. I am very worried when hot weather comes. What is wrong with me? How can I get my health back or manage symptoms?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Overheating or increased sensitivity to warm weather could be a sign of an overactive thyroid gland aka Hyperthyroidism. Other symptoms are nervousness, mood swings, losing weight without trying, fast heartbeat, dry skin. I recommend that you do a blood test including thyroid function exam TSH, T3, T4. Therapy recommendations depend on test results.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ahmad Nazzal, General & Family Physician
