What Causes Nasal Congestion And Cough?

Hello. My son has runny nose cough since 15 days..in between 2-2 days he was ok but again he caught. Here in UK the doctors don t give any medicine as they say its due to viral infection. I gave him Alex junior cough syrup today 2 times and he got loosemotions.. Should I continue medicine.. Please give advice. Thanks

I had gone through your question Ian I can understand your concern. Yes, there is no need to take medicine for viral as it is self limiting condition. But for symptomatic relief you can give antipyratic, analgesic or other brochodilators or even antibiotics if the viral infection takes more then week or two.
Some times there is diarrhea because of the said medicine. But if you feel cough is worsening and is associated with much fever and annoying situation, you must visit a general physician again because it is now more then 15 says.
