What Causes Nasal Congestion, Pain And Breathlessness After Nasal Fracture?

Hello. I have seen a doctor and been diagnosed with a nasal fracture. Which I already knew, but wanted a piece of mind. I am suffering from severe nasal congestion. To the point I can t breath, I feel sick, and the pressure build up is painful. My doctor swears it will go down with ice for the swelling. It s been 5 days and plenty of ice on the nose. Please someone help and ease my mind. When will it go down and besides what I m using already(Flonase, sugared, and pain killers), is their anything else I can use? Please and thank you very much! Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have nasal congestion, pain and breathlessness after nasal fracture . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like blood clots due to soft tissue injury from broken sharp ends , infection due to fracture . I would suggest you to consult ENT specialist again for proper examination . Doctor may order x-ray or CT scan along with nasal endoscopy if possible . Doctor may prescribe antibiotics like amoxicillin along with decongestants and anti inflammatory . Doctor may also clean nostril from inside .
