What Causes Nasal Congestion,sore Throat And Nausea?

My 17 year daughter has had a fever since yesterday. I took her to the er. We explained that she had tonsilitis 2 weeks ago and was given augmentin to take. She took 5-7 days of the medication but didn t completed the medication. She told me yesterday that her throat started hurting again and her tonsils were swollen again so she started taking the medication again yesterday. Her symptoms are headache, fever restless, joint pain, nausea generalized weakness nasal congestion and of course her sore throat pain. At the ER they diagnosed her with pharyngitis, gave her keflex, told to increase fluids, follow up with primary MD. I m concerned because I cannot get her temp below 102 at the hospital it was 100.3 and continues to complain of all the same symptom that I listed above

Hello,
Your daughter has many symptoms of a viral infection. They do seem like infectious mononucleosis. So, please do get a monospot test or heterophile antibody test to diagnose the condition. She just needs to take rest, increase fluid intake, take paracetamol 650 mg daily three times. It will resolve by itself. Also send her blood for culture. If any bacterial infection is identified, she might need antibiotics to treat her condition.
