hello, I am having severe allergies lately, off and on nasal drip, predominately at night, sneezing, ears are partially stopped up, and a horrible sore throat, which appears to be in my adams apple region all the way to the mouth. I am 37, male, and unfortunately a smoker. Is this hayfever related, or other?
As you told about your symptoms i.e. severe cold with post nasal drip and sore throat, your ears are also got blocked. By co-relating your symptoms it appears as you are suffering from acute upper respiratory tract infection involving nose and paranasal sinuses & throat. This had extended to involve middle ear through eustachian tube and you are feeling it as blocked ear.
To get proper treatment you should consult your ENT doctor, but till you are in waiting you may take-
1- Steam inhalation & warm saline gargling.
2- Anti histaminic & decongestant.
3- Adequate fluid orally.
4- Antibiotic (preferably broad spectrum).
Probably your query is answered.
Regards.
