What Causes Nasal Polyps And Thick Mucus Drainage In Sinus Passage?

I am recovering from my third sinus surgery in the last 3 years. My surgeon says I have very thick and sticky mucous in my sinus passages which is also contributing to the regrowth of nasal polyps. He has done everything he can surgically and I will have follow up with him next week. Is there anything I can do to stop the mucous from thickening and contributing to this situation. I have asthma and allergies and have been strictly on a dairy free diet for over 3 years now. Do you have any suggestions for treatment of this issue. Many thanks, MC

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Noted the history of three surgeries for sinuses and still the thick mucus flows, causes more problems, and have allergies and asthma.
I would suggest you the following in such a situation:
Take a second opinion of another ENT Surgeon.
Recheck blood, urine and stool and get treated if anything is found out.
CT scan to see the present status.
Nasal steroid sprays daily.
Avoid the atmosphere with pollutants.
Get your office, workplace, house checked for molds and mildews.
No chemicals of any sort like deodorants and scents.
No pets.
Change over to pure cotton for all forms of clothes and linen.
There has to be a situation or place causing more allergens hence you are not getting okay.
Medical treatment as advised.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. T Chandrakant, ENT & General Surgeon
