What Causes Nausea After Every Dinner At Night?

Hi. I frequently have severe nausea and pukish feeling at night after dinner. It is accompanied by uncontrollable shaking and internal trembling. I have undergone gastroscopy, but the report was normal. I often have acidity and have to take antacids every night. The symptoms are worse when there is high amount of stress. What could be the reason and what would be the Treatment? Please advise. P.S. I read on the internet that the vagus nerve being affected by stomach acids could also cause shaking and trembling with nausea.

Hi,

Before answering I would have been happy if you have mentioned your age, sex and nature of work. Based on your description i feel you have a simple acid reflux disorder. If the symptoms subside with intake of antacids you need not worry regarding it. Stress will increase the reflux.

The steps you must follow are:

1. consult a doctor and take the necessary medications
2. avoid spicy foods, tea, coffee, masala, high fat food for three months
3. take regular medications till your doctor says to stop the drugs
4. take your dinner two hours before you go to sleep
5. don take full stomach at night.
6. to destress yourself try yoga or other relaxation techniques

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jeevithan Shanmugam
