What Causes Nausea And Abdominal Distension While On Duphaston?
hi, i am taking tab duphastone 10mg morning & night my doc as priscribed , i am planing for pregnent , i went for check up she told my endometrosis is thin, so she has precribed me for 10days,but i am having nausea & abdomen distension , can i continue tab, it will effect my pregnancy?
Duphaston contains Dydrogesterone that is progesterone used for pregnancy and maintenance of pregnancy. This being a hormone can cause nausea and abdominal symptoms. I would advise you to consult your gynecologist immediately as only she/he can tell you whether the cause is related to medicine or is due to gastrointestinal problems. She alone can tell whether the medicines to be stopped or continued.
Symptomatic treatment with Domperidone and a PPI like Omeprazole may help for your symptoms. Pseudocyesis also can cause similar symptoms and should be considered if you miss the period and yet the pregnancy tests are negative. Follow the advise strictly of your gynecologist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. T. Chandrakant, General Surgeon
