What Causes Nausea And Chronic Insomnia While On Sertraline HCL?

hello, I take sertraline HCL 50 mg and have been for at least 3 years. It does nothing at all for me except make me feel sick to my stomach. I have never taken the full 50 mg, always cut it in half. Also I have chronic insomnia which I understand is a side effect and that this medication can make you gain weight which I do not need since I am overweight, can t spell today! What are your thoughts? I have taken tramadol before which helped me greatly as far as anxiety was concerned, I know it s a pain killer but I also heard that some doctors were using it as an anti depressant. e-mail YYYY@YYYY

I would like to tell you that Sertraline drug causes side-effects like nausea and indigestion in many people and in that case should be stopped. Since you are not taking the prescribed dose of 50 mg and only taking half the dose it is not working properly.

Instead of taking wrong dosage which is not causing any benefit s and instead causing side-effects you should talk to your psychiatrist and get yourself substituted with different antidepressant.

Tramadol is not an antidepressant and cannot be used as a substitute. There are many antidepressant drugs which belong to different groups like Amitriptyline, fluoxetine et cetera which work quite well. Your doctor will prescribe you a drug which suits you best.
