General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since, she had been on antibiotics developing diarrhea raises concern for C difficile infection (commonly known as antibiotic-associated diarrhea). Stool toxin analysis is required to confirm the diagnosis. Treatment is with Metronidazole.

Please be advised to follow-up with your primary care provider to confirm the diagnosis and appropriate treatment. Meanwhile, drink plenty of fluids and stay hydrated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal
