What Causes Nausea And Dizziness After Taking Xanax?

Last night I was fine up until midnight. I went to sleep and woke up several times very dizzy and nauseous. I felt like I had really had a lot of alcohol and was still drunk. In the morning the nausea had subsided somewhat but I was still dizzy (feeling like I had a hangover). It is now 4:30 pm and when I turn my head or bend over, there continues to be dizziness. I am a diabetic that is controlled by diet. I had 1 vodka & tonic that was consumed between the hours of 6:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. Before going to bed around 11:00, I did take a Xanax which may have explained the feeling during the night but I don t feel that would still be the cause of what is occurring now. I will add that the day before yesterday, I woke in the morning to go to work, when I got out of bed I was dizzy to the point that I needed to sit down. That was the only occurrence for that day. Do I need to be concerned?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, nausea and dizziness after Xanax indicate a combined effect of sedative pill with alcohol consumption residual effects over the central nervous system.

It takes around 12 hours or so for the clearance of the effects of the same if further doses are not taken again.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
