What Causes Nausea And Dry Heaving After Waking Up In The Morning?

Nearly every morning I wake up and have the urge to vomit. I have uncontrollable dry heaving and most often vomit what appears to be stomach acid. This is brought on when I brush my teeth. I also experience a feeling of phloem in the back of my throat that I never can clear. What could cause this reaction each morning?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

I think you may be suffering from gastroesophageal reflux. You can do a fibroscopy to diagnose it. You can follow some tips to ease it like:
- Sleep with an elevated head with several pillows.
- Eat at least three hours before sleep.
- Don't eat acidic food.
- Don't use caffeine or alcohol or smoke.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka,
