What Causes Nausea And Heaviness In The Chest After Having Breakfast?

I am 65 year old male. About an hour after I eat breakfast each morning, I begin to be nauseated, my chest feels heavy, and I feel crummy for most of the day. I don t smoke, no caffeine, no soft drinks or coffee. Breakfast consists of organic oatmeal, gluten free pancakes...I buy as many gluten free, and organic products as possible. I weigh 170 lbs, I am 6 2 , and exercise daily....I have just gone through a very thorough cardio exam, and everything was found to be great. This has been going on for about 4 years, and I still have not been given any answers. I take no meds, I am very careful about what I eat, and I believe in alternative products...

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

As per the narration of the issue, there is stomach sensitivity to the oatmeal and pancakes.

I recommend to re-schedule the breakfast menu, taking anti emetic (such as Ondansetron) with proton pump inhibitor (such as Omeprazole or else) with sips of water around 1 hour prior to breakfast.

Wish you great day.

Thanks.
