What Causes Nausea And Lack Of Appetite In A Cancer Patient?

Chocked in restaurant and 3 to 4 people performed the Heimlick maneuver. Finally the last person was successful and the food was dislodged from my throat. Paramedics took blood pressure, heart rate, etc. I refused hospital trip. I followed up with Doctor the next day with xray of chest. Everything was ok but I have felt nauseated and sick to my stomach since. And no appetite. I thought it was from the trauma of not being able to breath and thought it would go away. I have a history of head and neck cancer and have difficulty swallowing and I am very thin.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It is quite common with cancer and it is called cancer cachexia. Include more protein rich foods to diet. Over the counter available appetite stimulators can be tried.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
