Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Nausea And Light Headedness While On Amlodipine?
Feeling light headed, nauseous, and very weak at times. Some days I am fine - walking and shooting hoops with my husband. Thought it might be the amlodipine I take for blood pressure. Cut back my dose but symptoms still come and go??? 67 year old female. I am a lab tech and have tested my fasting glucose and TSH - both normal. Keep having to switch docs as they continue to come and go frequently, so no continuity of care.
This does not sound like a typical side effect of amlodipine, but it may help to make sure by checking your blood pressure when you have these symptoms and see if it is low.
Otherwise, your symptoms are very general, which makes it hard to pinpoint where the problem might be coming from.
Getting your electrolytes, blood count, and other basic labs would be a good idea, and if there is no other obvious cause, switching amlodipine to another medication if needed would be reasonable to see if it might be responsible for these symptoms.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
