What Causes Nausea And Low Appetite While Suffering From Toothache?

I have had an accessed tooth for two weeks. Been on pen vk and pain med (Tylenol #3 with codeine and ibuprofen 800mg alternating.) Toothache still sore but much better. However, I have had a severe headache bad pain in sinus cavity on the right side of face right ear hurting bumps in roof of mouth near the abscess and low grade temp (but not when ER nurse took temp). I have also lost 16.4 pounds in lastcould of weeks without trying. Also been very nauseous last few days. could this all be related to my toothache? Appetite is fine, I just chew on left side.

Hi..
Can understand your concern..

As per your complain the symptoms that you have explained shows that you have been allergic to any of the medications that you are taking to relieve your dental infection and pain..

It can be more commonly be due to allergic reaction to penicillin group of antibiotics which you are taking or codeine which is the constituent of painkiller as Tylenol and ibuprofen are commonly tolerated but can also cause side effects or allergic reaction..

I would suggest you to consult your dentist and explain him the immediate symptoms so that he can reduce the dose or change the medicines..

For mouth bumps you can do gargles with 1:1 solution of milk of magnesia and benadryl.

Once the medicine is withdrawn slowly the symptoms will get less severe and even you can take antihistamines like allegra or benadryl to get relief..

For problem with the abscessed tooth although the pain is reduced but it can still get aggravated once the medicine is withdrawn as the infection source is not removed..

You should get the tooth treated with Root Canal Treatment and if it cannot be saved extraction should be done for permanent relief..

Hope this information helps..
