What Causes Nausea And Upset Stomach After Taking DHEA And L-Arginine Supplements?

Yes, I bought some DHEA, as I am older, am overweight, have hypertension, low sex drive, and arthritis. It seems like the perfect supplement. However, It might be giving me some slight symptoms like upset stomach, or nausea. I started taking L Arginine at the same time.

Hi,

L-arginine is possibly safe for most people when taken appropriately by mouth. It can cause some side effects related to the gastrointestinal tract such as nausea, abdominal pain, bloating and diarrhoea.

Such side effects would minimise after few days of its intake and by taking certain general measures. If the symptoms continue, then you need to switch over to injectable form L-arginine shot.

A possible side effect of DHEA supplement also includes stomach upset. Since you are taking both of them, it might have triggered certain gastrointestinal side effects.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Ashakiran S, General & Family Physician
