What Causes Nausea And Vomiting?

Hi. My 21 year old daughter just called worried and suffering with nausea and vomiting. She had 5 mixed drinks in 3 or 4 hours last night, has vomited 5 times in the 12 hours since drinking. She can t even keep water down though she has had 1.5 liters, and maybe retained some of that. Sould she go to ER or is she past the danger point?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi

Yes she may have to visit the hospital inorder to reduce or prevent dehydration, low blood pressure or hypoglycemia.

Since vomiting can cause loss of water and electrolytes,Intravenous fluids along with multivitamins may be required to replenish the lost fluid volume in the body.

Antiemetics may also be required to prevent any further episodes of vomiting.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
