What Causes Nausea And Vomiting?

My son, age 20, has been experiencing nausea and vomiting. He has a mass on his left side below his rib cage. He visited the ER last week and they did an ultrasound and said he has a possible hernia. they didn t admit him or do any other tests because they said he wasn t sick. They referred him to a surgeon who cannot see him for another week. It s already been weeks. He s lost 15 pounds and after eating two bites of food, he throws it up. We took him to a general doctor and he basically said the same thing.

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility of hiatus hernia is more.
It is herniation of stomach through diaphragm.
This causes nausea, vomiting, gastritis after eating.
In severe cases, surgical correction is the treatment of choice.
But better to follow below mentioned non surgical measures first.
1. Avoid hot and spicy food.
2. Avoid junk food. Avoid large meals, instead take frequent small meals.
3. Avoid stress and tension, be relax and calm.
4. Take pantoprazole and levosulpiride combination twice daily on empty stomach.
5. Keep 2 - 3 pillows under head in the bed to prevent reflux.
6. Go for walking after meals.
Don't worry, he will mostly improve with all these.
If not improving then he will need surgical correction of hiatus hernia.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your son. Thanks.
