What Causes Nausea Followed By Chronic Vomiting?

Thursday afternoon, I began getting nauseous. Thursday night I violently vomited 3 times. The first was black, second time was burgandy, and last was more red. Since then I have remained queasy and do not have an appetite. My stool is still black. The first appointment with my doctor is on Wednesday. Is it ok to wait that long or should I get to a doctor tomorrow?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I feel you have gastritis or acid peptic disease. You can wait till tomorrow and consult. Apart from doctors consultation, you need to follow some lifestyle tips such as:

1. Do not eat spicy food.
2. Take medicines for gastritis- pantop/omez/rantac.
3. Take little food at frequent intervals. Breakfast around 8 a.m., small snack at 11 a.m., lunch at 1 p.m., small snack at 4 p.m., and dinner at 8 p.m.
4. Drink plenty of water.
5. Do not smoke, take alcohol or tobacco and even excess of coffee and tea.
6. Do not take much of stress as it aggravates gastritis.
7. Do regular exercise, atleast half an hour per day.
8. Learn meditation techniques.
9. Follow this regularly for 21 days. It is said that anything you practice regularly for 21 days becomes a habit.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Sanjay Kini
