I Have a 14 year old daughter she is diabetic this is our second month of nauseau and vomiting she is getting to the point of being afraid to eat she also has ocd and on zoloft, zantec,singular takes lantus and humalog she goes for a hidascan on the 29 for her gallbladder but everyday seems to be getting worse her sugars are low now but to nauseuated to eat I made her eat just a plain piece of bread to help but even the smell of food makes her feel sick what do I do one worried parent
Hello, Good day. Sorry to hear about your daughter. There are many conditions to rule out as the cause of nausea. Main one is diabetic gastroparesis. In this the persitaltic movements of intestine is slower and food tend to stay back in stomach. Another important thing in a Type 1 DM with nausea is to rule out low cortisol levels. Get her pottasium and BP checked. It may be better to check her cortisol levels. Discuss ths with your GP/Endocrinologist. Another cause is acid reflux which can occur in a diabetic patient. The way to go is to meet an endocrinologist and gastroenterologist Regards Binu
