What Causes Nausea In The Mornings While On Spironolactone?

Hi I ve been taking spirinolactone for about a month and a half now I ve also been on birth control for a little over 6 months. I ve been getting very nauseas every morning and I get very tired at night. My last cycle was a little odd, very little dark blood and it was very short. Due to a past condition I had to have an ovary removed. I was worried about my symptoms and have now taken 2 pregnancy tests about 2 weeks apart. Both negative. I also haven t been too active sexually. What could be the problem?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the tiredness is related to dehydration status brought up by excess urination from spironolactone which is a diuretic medicine.

* Nausea can be part of gastritis via either of the drug or even food-induced factor as well.

* Adding up of proton pump inhibitor as pantoprazole (40 mg) on an empty stomach and plenty of liquids help to solve the issue at best possible way.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
