What Causes Nausea, Irritable Bowel Syndrome And Upper Abdominal Pain?

I have been feeling dull pain in my upper right abdomen liver area, I have been feeling constipated but now am having slight diarrhea because I took over the counter medications. I am salivating excessively and burping which feels like a relief. I feel like it feels better until I eat something small and then the area under my right breast feels painfully full and I cant get comfortable. I have not eaten for more than 12 hours and feel nauseated but no pain

Hi there!
Although your symptoms can be considered to be that of Irritable Bowel syndrome you also have to rule out gastritis and reflux as you say you have excessive burping and salivation.
First things first - normally irritable bowel and gastritis both have common triggers like Stress, lack of proper sleep, spicy food ,abnormal or irregular food timings ,diet rich in fat and alcohol .
If you have any of the above then that's where you should start.
Secondly regardless of whether you have gastritis or not , Proton Pump Inhibitors like Esomeprazole or Pantoprazole will help. Either of the drugs 40 mg once in the morning on an empty stomach about 30 min before breakfast.
Also an anti reflux drug like Gaviscon 20ml about half an hour after a meal will help with the reflux symptoms and burping .
Try to get some exercise like a brisk morning walk which will greatly help in relief of symptoms.
If you still experience pain after food then antispasmodic like Dicyclomine or Otiliniuim 15 min before food will help.
if you continue to feel the same despite all of this or experience a lot of weight loss then we have to look at it in more detail and you'll have to see a Gastroenterologist.
Hope this was helpful.
