What Causes Nausea, Vomiting And Headaches In A Dementia Patient?

My mum is 81 and has dementia. 2 days ago she developed sudden nausea, vomiting and headaches, she feels weak and unbalanced and has slept pretty much consistently for the last 48 hours, with the nausea and headaches continuing. She is dehydrated and her blood pressure is raised. I am trying to keep her fluid levels up with sips of water. What might be causing this and what is the best course of action?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I don't think this can be related to dementia. It can be related to a gastrointestinal tract infection. You can give her probiotics such enterogerina or yovita. Use simethicone to help with loose bowel movement. Continue to give her fluids and water to keep hydrated. If it lasts more than 5 days go to doctor.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
