What Causes Nausea When Exposed To Bright Light?

I experience nausea when exposed to bright or even moderately bright light. (Will upset my stomach to read a newspaper indoors with a lamp illuminating it.) Would like what is causing it and if there is anything I can do to prevent it. Currently wearing sunglasses and a hat usually seems to keep it under control.

Hi,

The symptoms described is suggestive of photo-sensitivity of eyes. This can occur most commonly due to migraine, dry eyes, corneal abrasions and certain infections of brain. If the symptoms does not subside in few days time, consider seeing a doctor to get evaluated.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ayesha Shareef, General & Family Physician
