What Causes Nausea While On Flagyl And Ciprofloxacin?

Friday I was diagnosed in the ER with DD after a contrast CT. I have lower left abdominal pain. I was put on Cipro and Flagyl and told to follow up with a physician to get a colonoscopy. I have had 24 hrs nausea ever since and my entire upper abdomen is now distended. I am very uncomfortable (not pain). Symptoms that have developed since leaving the hospital are: Loss of appetite, Nasea, GERD, stomach distention. Are these side effects of the medication or is there something else going on now in my upper abdomen?

Thanks for posting your query on HCM
The symptoms you describe could be side effects of your medications.Flagyl may give you such digestive manifestations.However, the treatment duration is short and will end up being beneficial.I will suggest:
-You continue with the drugs
-Add an anti-secretory like omeprazole and an antacid like pepsane for GERD
-Eat regularly and in small quantities
-Avoid eating and lying down immediately
-Take enough fluids
If symptoms persist, you see your Doctor for evaluation.
