What Causes Nausea While Suffering From Hiatal Hernia?

I have a hiatal hernia and have had it for quite a few years. Lately I have been getting nauseous especially when lying on my back or even leaning back like in a chair for instance. I ve also been getting nauseous frequently and unable to eat much. I m sure I need tests done but am out of work and unable to afford doctor visits. Is this a concern or just my hiatal hernia flaring up bad?

Thank for posting on HCM!
I understand and sympathize with the concerns and difficulties of you.share with your anxiety! You should:
- Lose weight if you are overweight, and maintain a healthy weight
- Is there an appropriate diet, such as eating a variety of food moderate and limit fatty foods, acidic foods (such as tomatoes and citrus fruits or juices ), foods containing caffeine, and alcohol, eating more meals a day.
- Avoid lying down right after a meal, but at least 3-4 hours after a meal and should not snack before bedtime, eat 4-6 meals, each meal a bit.
- Raise the bed about 6 inches head (this will help keep the food gravity stays in the stomach)
- No smoking
- Use the self-purchased drugs, such as antacids, Gaviscon, or H2 inhibitors (such as Pepcid or Zantac AC).
