What Causes Neck And Face Swelling With Itchiness Throughout Body After Using Alfuzosin?

Hi Dr , I am46 yrs having bladder neck obstruction and mildly enlarged prostrate and have been taking 1 Tab Alfoo [Alfuzosin ] 10 mg HS since last 45 days and have been adviced to continue it for next 3 months . Recently since last 15 days I am having swelling on my feet and face . There also is a problem of itching and hives on some body parts like palms , hands shoulders .

I can understand your concern regarding the safety of Alfuzosin.

You seem to have developed an allergic reaction to Alfuzosin.
Urticaria (itching with hives) & swollen face and the feet (oedema) are the important manifestations of allergic reaction apparently caused by Alfuzosin.
Kindly consult your treating physician for an alternate but safer medication like Tamsulosin or Doxazosin for the treatment of enlarged prostate with bladder neck obstruction.

Meanwhile you can take oral antihistamines like Loratdine or Fexofenadine for the symptomatic relief of urticaria.
