What Causes Neck, Back And Chest Pain, Breathing Difficulty And Distorted Vision?

I am 51 YO. Been running for 41 years. Was in very good shape. For last 4 months have been steadily declining in running performance from 10 miles to now labored walking. Have had many episodes of intense chest pain, labored breathing, neck and back pain, distorted vision. Have had EKG, stress test, and echocardiogram. All ok. Started using inhaler, helps a little, but episodes continue.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Chronic running can cause alteration in the metabolic pathways of mitochondria by consuming much of the ATP within short span of period and then there is difficulty in breathing once the energy storage is depleted.

As the cardiac work up is okay, I quote for the consultation with expert endocrinologist in this chapter.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
