What Causes Neck Stiffness, Headache, Tiredness And High Fever?
My son is 26 and has been sweeping a lot of water out of his basement due to all the rain. In the last few days he has had neck stiffness, headache, very tired, not eating and high fever of 103 on Sunday, 100 yesterday and today. I am fearful it could be mingitis. What is your opinion? Also, lost of mold in the basement now.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
In meningitishigh fever is accompanied by neck stiffness where, neck flexion is not possible , it is accompanied by nausea & vomitting.
In your son's case the neck pain can be due to excessive stress to cervical spine(may have caused spondylosis) &any time of viral infection with high grade fever may mimic meningitis.
Still it's advisable to get consulted by your family physician&get investigated as advised so that your d your doubt is cleared.
Till then please continue with medicines prescribed, let him take rest, have light nourishing food, drink sufficient clean water. Give him Paracetamol over the counter if high tempreture is there.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
