What Causes Nerve Pain Above Ankles And Lower Back After Suffering From Torn Ligament?

hi, I hurt my mid lower back last july whilst hand excavating, I over twisted/extended to the left and collapsed. first diagnosis was torn ligiment, 2nd diagnosis was torn muscle (earlier this year) since I have always felt twisted, my hips and back do not stay in line, I have constantly tight muscle through my back and legs. I get rather severe nerve pain if my spine is sore for too long. now the pain and stiffness follows the siatic nerve path, from above my ankles to my lower back with pain especially around the top and sides of my hips going down my legs. the nerve pains shoot from my hips to my heels. is there a chance I have damaged my sacrum which is causing the constant misalignment and pressure on the psyatic nerve? sitting hurts as much as standing.

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The radiation of pain from hip to heels can be due to sciatica.
Sciatica is caused by compression of sciatic nerve.
Sciatic nerve runs from lower pelvis in the hip compartment to thigh to leg and its breaks down into branches before entering the foot.
Compression of sciatic nerve leads to pain in lower back going into back of thigh, front of leg and then to heel.
The symptoms described by you are suggestive of sciatica.
The injury to the back is probably responsible for the pain.
Tearing of ligament and muscle can lead to localized pain but not this kind of pain radiating to leg and then foot.
I suggest you to consult an orthopedician for clinical assessment, relevant investigations like MRI of spine for confirming the involvement of sciatic nerve.
Management can be planned thereafter.

Thanks and take care
