Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I began having nerve pain in March. In December, 2015, I fell and fractured the ball of my shoulder. I had surgery -- 2 plates, about 15 screws. At that time I was going off the drugs Wellbutrin, Clonopen, and Zoloft with the help of a Psychiatrist (been on since 2001). In February I began coming off opioids from the surgery. I was off all in March although dealing with withdrawals. The nerve pain has gotten increasingly more painful, constant and affecting more body area (not just hands and feet). It is like hot stinging nettles -- even in my eyes. It is excruciating today. I am 67-years-old. Help.
General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi,
I can think of a few possible causes for your widespread nerve pains. It could be vitamin B12 deficiency-specially if you are pure vegetarian or have a digestive problem/peripheral neuropathy because of long-standing or advanced diabetes/spinal injuries at multiple places due to degenerative changes in backbone or discs or after the accident you met within past
You need to consult a physician for primary evaluation of the problem followed by specific management with medicines, an implementation of deficient nutrients, physiotherapy or surgery in few cases.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
