What Causes Nerve Pain, burning In Axilla After A Lumpectomy?

I developed nerve pain- terrible burning in my axilla following a lumpectomy and sentinel node Bx the end of march. I was put on gambepentin 2 1/2 weeks ago. and it seemed to work fine. Yesterday I had terrible pain again, up to a level 8.. but better today. Am I going to continue to experience this up and down? Is there any end in sight thank you in advance.
