What Causes Neuropathy In Foot And Leg Despite Taking Gabapentin?

I am a 68 yr. old woman and have neuropathy in both of my feet and seems to be traveling up my legs. I was told that it was from chemo when I had breast cancer 13 years ago. Right now I am taking gabapentin, 400 mg three times a day and doesn t seem to be helping much. Knowing there s no cure , I guess my first question is, how worse can this get? Will it eventually be in my hands, arms, etc.?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If the neuropathy is as a result of chemotherapy you had it is not much likely to progress and get worse. Using gabapentin is an alternative but you can try Lyrica too. It is not much curable but at least not to get worse fast.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
