What Causes Newborn Baby To Test Positive For Meth?

My daughter's father and his girlfriend just had a baby that tested positive for meth. The baby had meth detected on her skin from the amniotic fluid and either the placenta or umbilical cord also tested positive for traces of meth. How long ago did she use before giving birth? Within a few days, or within the last 6 months? I can't seem to find this information online.

while there are false positives for any stress hormone (decongestants) for methamphetamine, it seems doubtful everything would be this positive. Methamphetamine is cleared pretty rapidly. would have to be within the week.
