What Causes Non-gonoccocal Urethritis After Intercourse?
Both I and my partner only have each other for intercourse. My partner experienced having yellowish-green discharge and went to the doctor only to find out that he has ngu (non-gonoccocal urethritis) he was prescribed his meds and he also took a injection for the prevention of gonorrhea just to be sure. So I had myself tested and I have been diagnosed by my first ob gyne that I have bacterial vaginosis and the results of my papsmear showed that I was positive for inflammation. She prescribed metronidazole forte the vaginal suppository and told me to take 1 every night for 7 days. I visited her after a week and she told me that I was already cured for my bv but didn t explain or talked about my inflammation. After a month my partner and I had intercourse without condom and it was very painful for me. I went back to another new ob-gyne and now I was diagnosed with vulvovaginitis and uti because of my high wbc count in my urinalysis. She did a papsmear test on me but didn t see anything abnormal in my discharge. She prescribed Travocort cream (2x application within a day) for my inflammation and Cefuroxime 500mg (2x a day with an interval of 12hrs for 1week) for my uti. Then my partner told me his yellowish green discharge came back indicating that his ngu is recurring again. Is it possible that I am really the cause why my partner has ngu and why has it appeared again for him? I m really worried because I feel that I m such a burden for giving him such an infection.

What Causes Non-gonoccocal Urethritis After Intercourse?
Hello Yes, gonococcal infection is a sexually transmitted disease. If the full medication course is not taken it is bound to recur.both partners should be treated simultaneously. Maintain hygiene, take plentiful oral fluids and use barrier methods like condoms. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
