What Causes Normal Period Like Bleeding Post Taking Abortion Pills?

Hiii dr. Richa, After some unprotected sex i have no MC. Its date was 12/01/16.but it didn t come. I also cheched it by pregnency kit its positive. Aftr that i take contrapill-kit on 17/01/16 in evening first tab. And i take second dose on 19/01/16 in afernoon. And last dose take 20/01/16 in morning. But i think it doesn t work correctly. Bcoz i dont have heavy bleeding ...its normal like MC. So i m so worried.

I have read your description and understand your concern.
Abortion using pills is recommended to be strictly done under medical supervision.
Bleeding usually starts within four hours after using the pills, but sometimes later. If the abortion continues, bleeding and cramps become more severe. Longer the pregnancy, the more heavy the cramps and the bleeding will be. If the abortion is complete, the bleeding and the cramps diminish.
If no bleeding occurs after the third dose or the bleeding is scanty, you can to try it again after a couple of days or get the abortion done by surgical means.
It is essential to get a ultrasound scan done after 10 to 14 days to make sure that all the products of conception have been expelled out completely.
